At Dublin Metro Dental,
we provide gentle and comfortable tooth extractions in Dublin, OH to help relieve pain, remove infection, and protect your overall oral health.
While saving natural teeth is always our priority, there are times when removing a tooth is the healthiest option. Whether you need an emergency extraction, wisdom tooth removal, or treatment for a severely damaged tooth, our experienced team is here to provide compassionate care using advanced dental technology.
Six situations where removal is necessary
Severe decay
When decay has destroyed so much tooth structure that a crown or filling is no longer feasible and infection risk is high.
Advanced gum disease
Severe periodontitis can loosen teeth to the point where they can no longer be stabilised β extraction stops the spread.
Impacted wisdom
Third molars that grow sideways, become trapped under the gum, or press against neighbouring teeth cause pain and infection.
Dental abscess
An untreated abscess that hasn't responded to root canal therapy may require extraction to eliminate the source of infection.
Orthodontic crowding
Creating space for teeth to align correctly sometimes requires removing one or more teeth before orthodontic treatment begins.
Fractured root
A tooth fractured vertically below the gumline is usually unrestorable β removal prevents infection and clears the way for an implant.
WHAT AN EXTRACTION LOOKS LIKE WITH DR. SADINENI
Examination & Diagnosis
Before any extraction is performed, Dr. Sadineni conducts a comprehensive clinical examination of the affected tooth and surrounding structures. For complex cases β particularly impacted wisdom teeth or fractured roots β our XG 3D cone-beam imaging provides a full three-dimensional view that flat X-rays cannot capture Extraction is always a last resort. If the examination reveals that the tooth can be saved, we try our best!
The Extraction Procedure
On the day of the procedure, local anesthetic is administered to fully numb the tooth, surrounding gum tissue, and supporting bone. Patients who experience dental anxiety may opt for oral conscious sedation, which produces a deeply relaxed state while keeping you aware and able to respond. You will feel pressure and movement during the procedure β you will not feel pain.
Aftercare & Next Steps
Clear guidance for a smooth recovery β and a plan for what comes next. Every patient leaves with written aftercare instructions like-
- Bite on gauze for 30β45 minutes
- Apply an ice pack in 20-minute
- Avoid straws, smoking, and vigorous rinsing
- Eat soft foods
- Take prescribed or OTC pain relief
- Rinse gently with warm salt water
Tooth replacement options after extraction
Replacing a missing tooth protects your bone, bite, and smile. Dr. Sadineni discusses timing and options at your extraction appointment.
