What is a crown?

A cap that covers and protects a damaged tooth β€” completely.

A dental crown (also called a cap) is a custom-made restoration that fits over the entire visible portion of a damaged or weakened tooth, from the gum line up. Unlike a filling, which only fills a cavity, a crown encases the whole tooth β€” restoring its original shape, strength, and appearance while protecting the remaining structure from further damage.

Most dental insurance plans cover 50–80% of crown costs

Quality restorations at honest prices

Prices depend on crown material, tooth location, and any additional treatment required (e.g. post-and-core buildup).
Your exact cost is confirmed before any work begins.

The procedure

Your crown appointment, step by step

Traditional crowns take two visits. CEREC crowns are completed in one. Here's how both work.

20–30 min
Examination & shade selection

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

30–45 min
Tooth preparation

Under local anaesthetic, the tooth is shaped to receive the crown β€” removing a consistent layer of enamel to create a precise seat.

15 min
Digital scan or impression

An iTero digital scan (or traditional impression) captures the exact shape of the prepared tooth and surrounding bite.

60–90 min
60–90 min

CEREC: milled in-office in 60–90 minutes. Traditional: sent to a specialist lab β€” ready in 10–14 days with a temporary worn in the interim.

20–30 min
Fitting & cementation

The crown is tried in, adjusted for perfect fit and bite, then permanently bonded using dual-cure resin cement.

Visit 1 (CEREC: complete same day)
Steps 1–4 completed in a single appointment Β· typically 2.5–3.5 hours total
Visit 2 (traditional only)
Crown fitted & cemented Β· 30–45 minutes

Our in-office CEREC CAD/CAM milling system designs and mills your crown chairside β€” no temporary crown, no second appointment, no waiting two weeks for a lab. You come in with a broken tooth and leave with a finished, permanent porcelain crown in the same afternoon.
