Save your natural tooth β€” same visit relief

Root canal therapy β€” relieves pain, saves your tooth, and it's far more comfortable than you think

Root canals have an undeserved reputation. With modern techniques, precision imaging, and sedation options, most patients at Dublin Metro Dental are genuinely surprised by how comfortable the procedure is β€” and leave pain-free the same day.

Severe toothache or dental abscess?

We have same-day appointments

Don't wait β€” infection can spread rapidly. Call us now for same-day emergency care.

What is root canal therapy β€” and why is it needed?

Inside every tooth, beneath the enamel and dentin, is a soft tissue called the pulp β€” containing nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When this pulp becomes infected or inflamed (due to deep decay, a crack, or trauma), it causes significant pain and, if untreated, can lead to abscess, bone loss, and tooth loss. Root canal therapy removes the infected pulp, cleans and shapes the canal system, fills and seals it, and restores the tooth with a crown β€” saving your natural tooth permanently.

Your options compared

Root canal therapy vs. extraction β€” an honest comparison

Both resolve infection, but the long-term outcomes are very different. In almost every case,
saving the natural tooth is the clinically superior choice.
What to expect

Your root canal, step by step

Most root canals at Dublin Metro Dental are completed in one or two appointments. Here's exactly what happens at each stage.

15 Min
X-ray &
diagnosis

Digital X-rays and, where indicated, 3D cone-beam imaging reveal the number of canals, root curvature, extent of infection, and bone involvement around the root tip. This diagnostic precision allows Dr. Sadineni to plan the most efficient and complete treatment before beginning.

10 min
Anaesthesia & isolation

Local anesthetic is administered to completely numb the tooth, surrounding tissue, and jaw. A small rubber dam is placed around the tooth to isolate it and keep the operating area clean and dry throughout. Oral conscious sedation is available for anxious patients.

20-30 Min
Access & pulp removal

A small opening is made in the crown of the tooth to access the pulp chamber. The infected or inflamed pulp tissue is carefully removed using precision hand and rotary instruments, working through each canal to the tip of the root.

20-30 min
Canal shaping & irrigation

Each canal is shaped using sequential files to create a smooth, tapered pathway for filling. The canals are thoroughly irrigated with antimicrobial solutions β€” typically sodium hypochlorite β€” to eliminate remaining bacteria and debris, then dried completely.

20 min
Canal filling & sealing

The canals are filled with gutta-percha β€” a biocompatible rubber-like material β€” and sealed with dental cement to prevent re-infection. In multi-visit cases, a temporary filling is placed and antibiotics prescribed if active infection is present, with the permanent fill completed at the next appointment.

20 min
Crown
restoration

A tooth that has undergone root canal therapy becomes more brittle over time without a protective crown. Dr. Sadineni places a custom CEREC porcelain crown β€” often the same appointment β€” to restore full strength, function, and appearance. The crown protects the tooth for 15+ years.

Sedation available

Oral conscious sedation and anxiety-free dentistry for patients who want to be relaxed throughout.
